“…In designing the AV system, we were quite aware of the museum’s need for something far more reliable than the typical commercial or residential project. ‘We are open 364 days a year and this system has to work on all of those days,’ Beckman told us. ‘It has to have almost no maintenance and be simple to use: We want to just turn it on at the beginning of the day and then everything has to be automated from there.’ To meet the requirement for reliability, we used a solid-state, V16+ show controller from Alcorn McBride, with the video itself stored on two one-gigabyte flash cards, rather than tape, DVD or a even hard drive…”

LightingPad is the perfect tool for controlling small shows, or for installing and testing lighting systems. It’s also great for programming our LightCue Pro lighting controller. Simply connect any Art-Net compatible DMX device to your wireless network, and you have a complete lighting console in the palm of your hand. Because it’s an iPad / iPhone application, it’s incredibly simple to use.

InfoComm 2010 has ended!
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010Or has it? The week after a trade show is a critical time. It can go one of two ways. You can sit back and say “Phew! What a week! I am glad that’s over,” or you can say “Phew! What a week! I can’t wait to get started!” So which are you?
I must admit I am a bit relieved the show is over. We launched new products, held training sessions, and met with clients after hours. If you have exhibited at a trade show you can relate when I say it’s a lot of deadline driven work. So yeah, it feels great to have it behind me. BUT by far the best part of exhibiting at the trade show is reaping the rewards of your hard work. We already got started! The contacts, project leads, and product feedback are more than icing on the cake…it is the reason why we do trade shows in the first place!
New Products, New Shows

As we head into the summer we wish everyone a busy time at work and some relaxing time with loved ones. Wouldn’t it be great if you could control or test your show control, lighting, audio or video without being in the equipment room or at an Operator Control Console? That’s what we thought, too. And since most of us at Alcorn McBride carry the ubiquitous iPhone, we figured, what an ideal portable controller! For this, our first iPhone app, we didn’t want to get carried away, so we kept it simple. There are eight buttons, and you can define whatever UDP message you like for each of them. This lets you talk to all of our Ethernet enabled devices, and other manufacturer’s devices as well. You can also name the buttons and specify the destination IP address and port number. Whether you use it to ease installation, or as a portable OCC, we think UDP Remote will make a great addition to your next project. Enjoy!

Friday, February 26th, 2010We are well underway with our preparations for the upcoming trade shows. Our Engineering Team has been busy with product development. Over the past year, we have released five new products! (Digital Video Machine HD, ShowTouch, V4Pro, DMX OverRide, and the LightCue Pro). There is no slow down in sight for us as we prepare to launch the new SetPlayer HD for on-set video to the Broadcast Market at NAB and new audio and video players at InfoComm. Whew! Good thing we keep our kitchen stocked with healthy snacks.
